All Around Learning

Program Information

A conversational Hebrew program built for real communication

Created for Jewish schools, congregations, community organizations, and learners of all ages — Hebrew All Around treats Hebrew as a living language rather than a subject to be memorized.

Hebrew That ConnectS

Beyond reading — to understanding and connection

Hebrew All Around is a conversational Hebrew program and learning approach designed to help learners move beyond simply reading Hebrew to understanding, using, and connecting with it in meaningful ways.

Created for Jewish schools, congregations, community organizations, and learners of all ages, Hebrew All Around treats Hebrew as a living language rather than a subject to be memorized. Through conversation, movement, games, hands-on experiences, and community-based learning, participants develop the confidence to understand and communicate in Hebrew while deepening their connection to Jewish life.

Hebrew All Around is built around how people learn languages best: through meaningful interaction, repeated exposure, movement, play, and authentic communication.
At its core, Hebrew All Around seeks to bridge the gap between decoding Hebrew and truly understanding it. By creating supportive learning communities that extend beyond the classroom and include families, peers, and congregations, the program helps learners develop both language skills and a lasting sense of connection, belonging, and ownership of Hebrew.
How We Do It

Four principles in practice

Communication Before Memorization

Hebrew is taught as a language for communication rather than a subject to be memorized. Students learn to introduce themselves, describe people and objects, express preferences, ask questions, and engage in everyday interactions.

Learning Through Experience

Learners acquire language through games, movement, storytelling, role-playing, art, music, and hands-on activities that make Hebrew meaningful and memorable.

Building a Classroom Kehila

Language develops through interaction. Hebrew All Around intentionally creates a supportive Classroom Kehila where learners feel safe to take risks, communicate, collaborate, and grow together.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Hebrew learning extends beyond weekly class meetings through family activities, community events, and opportunities for continued practice.

How Schools Use Hebrew All Around

Flexible models for every setting

Hebrew All Around is designed to be flexible. Schools, congregations, camps, and community organizations can implement the program in a variety of ways depending on their goals, schedule, and learners’ needs. We work closely with organizations to help integrate Hebrew All Around into existing educational models and create an implementation approach that fits their community.

Core Hebrew Instruction

Use Hebrew All Around as a primary Hebrew curriculum or alongside an existing program to strengthen vocabulary, comprehension, and communication skills.

Elective or Enrichment Courses

Offer Hebrew All Around as a conversation-based elective that provides additional opportunities for learners to use Hebrew in meaningful contexts.

Family Learning Opportunities

Extend Hebrew learning beyond the classroom through family activities, events, and shared learning experiences.

Pilot Implementation

Begin with a single classroom, grade level, or small group before expanding implementation across a larger program or school community.

After-School, Sunday, or Supplemental Learning

Provide flexible Hebrew learning opportunities outside the regular school day as enrichment or additional language support.

Professional Learning and Program Development

Partner with educators and leadership teams to incorporate communicative Hebrew practices into existing Hebrew and Judaic studies programs.
Family Engagement

Families as learning partners

At Hebrew All Around, learning is strengthened when families are involved. Family members are not expected to become Hebrew teachers, but they play an important role as learning partners and supporters.

Throughout the year, students receive family-friendly activities designed to encourage conversation, practice, and shared learning experiences at home.

Families are also invited to participate in special community events that celebrate learning and strengthen connections among learners, families, and Jewish communities. Depending on the program model, these experiences may include family learning days, community celebrations, or immersive Hebrew experiences such as the Hebrew All Around Retreat, also called Yom Mishpacha.
